Headbutt

Owen has been testing his mommy and daddy lately as he's learning how to be more vocal. That's a nice way of saying that he's started pitching a fit! He will squirm and try to get down if he doesn't like something you're doing. Well the other day Marcus was trying to change his diaper and he picked him up to put on his pants and Owen hit him in the head. Here's the conversation that followed...
Marcus: "Did you see what your son just did?"
Me: "No, what?"
Marcus: "He just head butted me!"
Me: "Well, I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose. He was probably just trying to get away."
Marcus: "Oh, he did it on purpose all right because he smiled at me after he did it!"

I just had to laugh at that point! Although I do think that he gets that temper from his Daddy :)

Reading Books

So you know that I'm a teacher, so of course I've been reading to Owen since he was about 2 weeks old! We read books every night before he goes to bed. Our doctor told us that most babies his age won't sit for a whole story. He will sit if it's a book he chose. If it's one he doesn't want to hear, he'll push it away :) Well lately he's been going and choosing books and bringing them to me to read. Guess what book Owen brought me today, my little scholar picked up the phone book and carried it to me to read!

Life Lesson #16: Share books with your children, even if they're babies!

Bad Blogger

Okay, I must admit I've been a bad blogger...no horrible blogger...these past few months. My life consists of waking up at 5:15, getting myself ready, then getting Owen ready, out the door to daycare and being at work by 7:30. So needless to say once I get wild man Owen to bed, watch my DVR'd shows, and get my stuff ready for work I'm ready for bed myself! So I'll give you a quick recap of these past few months and I'll try to blog more about them later.

*After much planning Owen's first birthday was super successful! He had a Winter Onederland party full of snowmen and yummy winter goodies.
*We had a fantastic Christmas. Owen is a very blessed young man and our living room is overflowing with toys! As expected, he loved the wrapping paper and boxes as much as his new toys :)
*Marcus and I are officially old because for New Year's Eve we went to bed before the ball dropped in NYC...sad, but true!
*Owen has 5 teeth and a few more right under his gums. He looks so cute when he smiles and his little Chiclet teethies are shining.
*We had our first crying baby experience at Fuddrucker's. Owen had a fit over the balloons that were tied up and cried to get one because he thought it was a ball. Call me a paranoid mom, but I didn't want him squeezing it because I was afraid it would pop. Needless to say, I think that's the fastest I've eaten in a long time!
*I finally got tired of my clothes not fitting and I can no longer use the excuse that I'm pregnant or breastfeeding so I decided to join Weight Watchers. It makes a big difference once you decide to get serious about what you eat. I've yet to start exercising, but hey you gotta start somewhere. A big thanks to Marcus' work, Michelin, for offering 13 weeks for FREE!
